Remains of the Wharf
June 2004

This image was taken by Patrick D. Hartigan, during his solo trip to Rencontre East in the summer of 2004. The house was undergoing a refurbishment by the Giovannini brothers. At the time it was owned by a couple from Alberta, who have since sold it back to a Newfie. The photo is from an upstairs bedroom. As you can see from the image, little remains of the industry which brought people to the shores of Rencontre. The decking formerly extended in both directions and could dock up to three schooners, as seen in earlier photos. There is a cement pier off to the left, not seen in this image which was one end of the dock. To the right side of of the image you can see the other.
