Hartigan's Wharf in Winter

Here is a later photo of the wharf. You can see in the image, Michael and Patrick's houses and some of the out-buildings along the wharf. This image was taken on a cloudy or foggy day, as you'll notice that the mountain in the background is missing. The Hartigan's chose Rencontre's Little Harbor for their schooners because it wouldn't freeze in the winter. The continuously flowing river, draining from Rencontre Lake to the north, would keep the harbor free from the damaging ice dams.
